I'm so glad I was able to find this generation made by Apple Macintosh computer here on Amazon with the Tiger 10.4 OS, which Apple Store themselves no longer sells. I have many, priceless, invaluable Classic Applications/Programs that can only run up to this particular OS. It's the last of the Operating Systems made to support Classic by Apple. Classic Applications won't work on Intel Core machines or the Leopard OS, so it must be Tiger OS or before, supporting OS 9. The newer children of these Classic Applications/Programs are not as good as the originals and some no longer made like Claris, they don't compare to what one can do with them, so they are a must to keep, cherish and be able to utilize. Macintosh computers have always been utilized in my family for their business and graphic art expertise of finer, advanced, professional outcomes. I would never even consider a Windows, or any other for fear of problems with viruses, the lack of uncomplicated use, etc., etc. Thankfully I never had a virus with Macintosh, since I began on them in 2003, only slight bugs here and there, resolved in a minutes time. The Apple Support team is always there for me, thru here online, the Apple Stores, or their 800 no., with answers to all my questions in times of need, with resolve.
My Macintosh computer before this one was the Panther OS, 17" screen, in 2004 in which I bought two, one for a family member and one for myself. They were brand spanking new off the Apple Store floor. A year later I purchased refurbished iMacs for family members, with the Tiger OS 20" as surprise Christmas gifts. Now it's my turn to have the best of both worlds in an Apple iMac computer, to still utilize my Classic Applications/Programs and now with the bigger 20" screen that I'm absolutely in awe of. I'm very pleased that I made this wise decision and bought this, the last of this generation of Apple iMacs to support Classic. Hurray! And thank you Amazon Marketplace and vendor Michael, at Vema Electronics :D

I bought mine in March 2006 and the display died October 2007. If you don't have the extended warranty it will cost $$$ if anything on the logic board fails or if the LCD panel fails. Since the video card is part of the logic board you don't have many options for repair. I wish it had a DVI output for an external monitor since you cannot currently connect it to any displays that Apple sells. The quality of the DVI connection is much better than the mini-VGA present on this iMac. Otherwise it's a great OS X machine. When the display worked, it was beautiful.

I have owned all 3 revisions of the iMac G5 and can tell you these are the best Mac computers. The all-in-one design is so simple and elegant. The latest Rev. C iMac G5 at 2.1GHz is the fastest yet. What really makes this computer move is the improved graphics chip, a 128MB ATI X600, much faster than the 128MB Radeon 9600 on the Rev. B iMac, and much, much faster than the64MB Nvidia 5200 FX of the Rev. A iMac.
A nice addition to this iMac G5 2.1GHz is the iSight webcam. You need a high-speed (cable or DSL) internet connection to really take advantage of it. My kids can see and talk with Grandma and Grandpa in another state, who they hardly get to see in person. But with iChat AV and the iSight they can talk on a regular basis.
The included software bundle is almost complete. I say almost because you get email, web browsing, iChat AV, iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, and others, but really is lacking a good word processor. So I bought Microsoft Word, which runs great on this computer for word processing. It is nice to have everything include and work so perfectly. I even sync my bluetooth phone.
I have had this iMac for over 1.5 years and plan to keep it for a very long time. 2.1GHz and with the updated video card with 128MB video RAM will keep me going for a long time. Oh yeah, also make sure to upgrade the RAM by adding a 1GB or even a 2GB memory module. I put in a 1GB for 1.5GB total, and it runs all my apps just fine, with memory to spare. 2.5GB total would have been overkill and $$$ wasted.
Also, this iMac runs many of the OS 9 apps that will NOT run on the newer intel models. Yes, you still run across OS 9 only apps from time to time, so this is VERY important and why I will be keeping my iMac G5 for a long time.

An outstanding computer. It has been one of the best purchases I've made on-line.

I got this for Christmas & I am still in awe of it. So much more space with the processor,VGA,speakers,CD/DVD slot all in one piece.I don't know how they did it, but it works amazingly & has a sleek, classy, design.
The added features, like the Built-in-Bluetooth ,Apple remote, mighty mouse, built in video cam & more, make this an exciting computer to operate. I'm definitely impressed!
